Conference Proceedings
Following the acceptance of abstracts, authors will be invited to submit full or short papers for evaluation in accordance with the conference timeline. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process, and accepted papers will be published as book chapters in the Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) book series by Springer. This internationally recognized series is dedicated to advancing environmental protection, deepening the understanding of environmental processes, and fostering the development of engineering and technological solutions for sustainability (CiteScore = 0.8 as of March 2025).
In this context, EMGN-26 emphasizes the pivotal role of emerging materials and advanced material-based technologies in addressing environmental challenges and enabling sustainable innovations. The proceedings will be made available through the SpringerLink digital library, ensuring wide international visibility and dissemination. Registered authors of accepted papers will receive an official Springer Certificate of Acceptance confirming their contribution to the EMGN-2026 proceedings. Through this publication framework, EMGN-2026 aims to showcase high-quality research at the interface of materials science and environmental engineering, with strong scientific and technological impact addressing current sustainability challenges.
Authors of accepted papers in the conference proceedings who do not plan to attend EMGN-26 are nevertheless required to complete registration before the specified deadline (see Important Dates and Registration). In cases where attendance remains uncertain for the submitting author or any co-author, it is important to note that a publication fee must be paid prior to this deadline to cover the editorial handling and peer-review process associated with the paper. Accepted papers will not be included in the conference proceedings unless this fee has been duly paid. Should an author subsequently decide to attend the conference after completing this payment, the amount already paid will be deducted from the total registration fee.
The EMGN-26 proceedings will be organized into multiple volumes, each coordinated by the respective Track Chairs (see EMGN-26 Working Groups) and supported by selected editors based on their scientific contribution and active involvement in the conference, thereby ensuring thematic consistency and high editorial standards.
Related Conference Proceedings
The proceedings of the 1st CAJG was published in 10 volumes in November 2018. It gives a general and brief overview on appealing research focusing on emerging geosciences topics. It contains over 700 carefully refereed short contributions to the conference:
The proceedings (4 volumes) of the 2nd CAJG appeared online as part of the ASTI series on SpringerLink. It summarizes new research studies focusing on emerging geosciences topics and it contains over 400 carefully refereed short contributions to the conference:
The proceedings (4 volumes) of the 3rd CAJG is now available online through SpringerLink as part of the ASTI series (indexed in Scopus).
The proceedings of the 1st MedGU and 2nd MedGU are now available online through SpringerLink as part of the ASTI series (indexed in Scopus).
The proceedings of the 3rd MedGU is now in final preparation before online publication before the end of 2024.
All published volumes of EMCEI proceedings are available online through SpringerLink as part of the ASTI and ESE series (indexed in Scopus).
Oral Communications
There are three types of oral communications:
- In-person PowerPoint (PPT) presentation of 12 minutes (followed by 3-minutes Q/A).
- Online (recorded) PPT presentation of 12 minutes (followed by 3-minutes Q/A).
Best Paper Awards
During the EMGN the best paper selected from each conference track, as judged by the reviewers and session conveners, will receive awards (see Conference Tracks).
Decisions are based on the following criteria:
- Originality and newness of contribution
- Appropriate application of methodology
- Effective communication of the central ideas of the work
- Usefulness of the research in addressing one or more United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The winning authors will receive the “EMGN Award for Outstanding Paper,” and will be presented with a commemorative certificate and will be acknowledged during the awards ceremony (see the Conference Program).
The most active conference reviewers will also receive awards and certificates of appreciation and will be acknowledged during the awards ceremony.
Special Issues
The EMGN-26 Steering Committee has established agreements with journals published by reputable publishers (see Publishing Partners) to publish high-quality topical collections (special issues) covering cross-cutting themes in materials science. Further details about these journals will be announced in due course.
Following the conference, selected authors will be invited to submit full-length papers to the EMGN special issues. Invitations will be sent by 30 November 2026.
The deadline for submission of full papers to the special issues is 31 March 2027
All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous peer-review process conducted by the editorial teams of the respective journals prior to final acceptance for publication.
The publication of the full special issues is expected by 31 December 2027, although accepted papers will be published online on a rolling basis as soon as they are accepted.
Once formal agreements with scientific journals are finalized, the corresponding special issue(s) related to EMGN-26 topics will be listed below.
